The Argentine filmmaker Matías Piñeiro is the creator of a series of films based on the female characters in the comedies of William Shakespeare what he calls “Shakespeareads”, modern-day stories inspired by the playwright´s heroines.
Matías Piñeiro was born in Buenos Aires, where he studied and taught at the Universidad del Cine. He has directed the features The Stolen Man (2007), They All Lie (2009) Rosalinda (2011), Viola (2012), The Princess of France” (2014), Hermia & Helena (2016), Isabella (2020) and Sycorax (2021).
