On November 4th 2016 FSA organised together with Argentine-British Community Council (ABCC) a significant Tribute to Shakespeare at the Rose Garden of “Tres de Febrero” Park, which was endorsed by the Legislature of the City of Buenos Aires and the Nation’s Ministry of Culture.
Main speakers of the event were Mr. Mark Kent, Ambassador of the UK , Mr. John Hunter, President of ABCC, Dr. Mercedes de la Torre, President of FSA, Dr. Cristina Viñuela of Fundación Sur (created by Argentine writer Victoria Ocampo in 1962) and Mrs. Chantril relative to the late President of the British Community who donated Shakespeare´s bust in 1964, the President of the Culture Committee at the House of Representatives of Buenos Aires City Council, Mr. Omar Abboud and Mr. Sebastián Noejovich representing the National Minister of Culture, Pablo Avelluto and Mr. Dennis Horan enthusiast Shakespearean scholar. Actor & artistic director, Mr. Walter Acosta performed a selection of Shakespeare’s famous soliloques so did Primary and Secondary pupils from “Colegio Río de la Plata”. It was a memorable, warm and sunny morning in Buenos Aires, all around Shakespeare’s monument at the poet´s corner surrounded by a most colourful sea of roses!

The organisers FSA and ABCC donated a commemorative plaque placed at Shakespeare´s Monument made by Argentine Sculptor José Fioravanti in 1964.
