Dear FSA

Dearest Mercedes and Carlos,

It’s been a short, or a long, ten years since that week in Prague and our delightful conversation about your project, in our own language and, better yet, at once serious and light – seldom the case in certain circles where dull and tiresome bardolatry rules.

Short, in view of the many years to come; long, considering the few that other endeavors manage to survive. Congratulations.

Allow me to celebrate by quoting some lines from sonnet 6:

“…That use is not forbidden usury,
Which happies those that pay the willing loan;
That’s for thy self to breed another thee,
Or ten times happier, be it ten for one;
Ten times thy self were happier than thou art,
If ten of thine ten times refigured thee…”

Big hug!

Dr. Alfredo Michel Modenessi
Profesor de Literatura Dramática, Teatro y Traducción
